The story

Two eagles rise through flowers, rockwork and curling forms, their open wings giving the tall carving its upward movement.

Layered feathers and pierced openings bring lightness to the dense composition. The pale carving stands against a dark wooden base: an expressive decorative object for a bookshelf, console or desk. Its appeal is in that contrast of intricacy and momentum, and in the enduring image of a bird taking flight.

Likely made in China or another East Asian carving centre during the mid-to-late twentieth century; date and origin remain estimates. No maker’s mark is visible in the supplied photographs. Material, species and provenance require confirmation; the listing does not establish that the object is ivory-free.
