The story
Pink flower baskets brighten the glass panels of this timeworn wooden lantern. Rusted metal edging and a bent wire handle give its simple frame a distinctly utilitarian character.
Displayed unlit, the lantern becomes a small architectural object: colourful glass held within wood and metal that retain the traces of earlier use.
Attribution note
Chinese folk-style lantern, plausibly 20th century based on its construction and decoration. The date, maker, wood species and metal composition are unverified.
