The story

A long, narrow handle is patterned with amber and brown cloud-like swirls, held by three visible rivets. The slender steel blade has a strongly mottled surface, creating a striking contrast with the warmer colour of the scales.

This small object draws its character from restraint: a simple folding form, a richly patterned handle and the marks left by time. It has the intimate scale of a desk accessory, inviting the same attention one might give to an old pen or a well-used notebook.

Attribution note

The three-rivet construction, narrow blade and nail nick support the penknife description. The seller calls the handle tortoiseshell-pattern celluloid and the blade carbon steel; neither material has been independently tested. The visible tang mark is insufficiently resolved for a firm maker attribution. The European description is a seller attribution, while country and date remain unconfirmed. The handle is not represented as genuine tortoiseshell.
