The story
A seated pose gives this miniature monkey a compact silhouette, while flowers and curling wirework cover its shoulders and back. Turquoise, pink, green and deep blue enamel set against the gold-tone ground turn a small animal figure into an intricate decorative object.
On a study shelf or beside a small stack of books, it offers a concentrated patch of colour without needing a matching collection. A plain surrounding surface gives the face, paws and patterned back room to be seen.
Attribution note
Chinese decorative cloisonné, plausibly mid-to-late 20th-century export production; seller calls it export-era production. This is an estimate, not a verified date.
